At the end of December 2014, the Shenzhen
government issued the Notice on the Organization and Implementation of the 2015
First Special-Fund Supporting Plan for the Development of Alternative Energy
Industry. Major targets include HEV, BEV, power battery and key auto parts.
This will be favorable to the development of the alternative energy industry in
Shenzhen.
At the end of December 2014, the Shenzhen
government issued Notice on the Organization and Implementation of the 2015
First Special-Fund Supporting Plan for the Development of Alternative Energy
Industry, specifying the first list of the sub-industries in the alternative
energy industry to be supported in 2015. From this, alternative energy vehicle,
smart grid, solar energy, nuclear energy, biomass energy, energy storage power
station and shale gas are included. Specifically in the sector of alternative
energy vehicle, hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), battery electric vehicle (BEV),
power battery and key auto parts are listed as the major targets.
CCM believes that the supporting plan is
favorable to promoting the development of alternative energy industry in
Shenzhen. Take BYD Company Limited (BYD) for example. As the local enterprise
engaged in this sector, BYD is in the lead concerning the technology for Li-ion
battery and alternative energy vehicle. Supported by this localized policy, BYD
will face great development opportunities in the future, and drive the growth
of other alternative energy vehicle manufacturers in Shenzhen. This will enable
Shenzhen government to establish the demonstration city regarding alternative
energy industry in China.
On 20 Jan., 2015, BYD released the
“alternative energy + SUV” (SUV stands for sport utility vehicle) strategy at
the 2015 BYD International Technology Conference. Meanwhile, the pre-sale price
of SUV Tang, the first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) from BYD, was
announced. Lian Yubo, senior vice president of BYD stated that the enterprise
would launch the medium hybrid SUV Song and the compact hybrid SUV Yuan on the
market in succession. Accordingly, electronically controlled continuously
variable transmission (ECVT) system will be adopted in the aforementioned 2
hybrid SUVs. BYD intended to form an alternative energy network in the main SUV
market in 2015.
Regarding the 2015 development strategy
from BYD, it is highly in line with the local government policy, positioning
alternative energy vehicle as the direction. Early on 29 Dec., 2014, Shenzhen
began to implement the vehicle restriction policy, which will last for 5 years
provisionally. Distinctly, Shenzhen government has the intention to promote the
popularization of alternative energy vehicle and support the industry
development via the vehicle restriction policy. This will also facilitate the
development of BYD in alternative energy vehicle sector.
